Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) in Delta, BC
Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) Near You
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) helps eligible Canadians without access to private dental coverage reduce the cost of oral health care. At Delta Centre Laser Cosmetic Dentistry, we welcome CDCP patients and can help you understand how your benefits may apply to the care we recommend.
If you are looking for support with the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) in Delta, BC, our team can review your coverage information, explain expected costs, and answer questions before treatment begins. We have served the Delta community for 35 years and provide preventive, restorative, surgical, and other dental services in one office.
We also understand that starting dental care can feel stressful, especially if you have been putting off treatment because of cost or dental anxiety. Our team takes time to explain each step and offers a comfort-focused approach for patients who feel nervous about visiting the dentist.
Find a Dental Office That Accepts CDCP in Delta, BC
Having a local dental office that accepts the CDCP can make regular appointments and follow-up care easier to manage. Delta Centre Laser Cosmetic Dentistry is located at 7337 120th St., Suite 240 in Delta and welcomes patients of all ages.
If you are looking for a clinic that accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) near you, we can help you understand how your active coverage may apply to recommended dental care. We assess your oral health first, explain what we find, and then review treatment options and expected costs with you.
Coverage does not determine which treatment is clinically appropriate. Our recommendations are based on your oral health needs, and we will let you know when a recommended service is covered, requires preauthorization, or may involve an additional cost.
What Is the Canadian Dental Care Plan?
The CDCP is a federal dental coverage program designed to help eligible Canadian residents who do not have access to private dental insurance or coverage.
It can help pay for a range of oral health services, including preventive care, examinations, fillings, gum treatment, root canal therapy, certain crowns, dentures, oral surgery, and eligible sedation services.
The CDCP does not necessarily pay the full cost of every dental service. The amount covered can depend on:
Your adjusted family net income
Whether the service is eligible under the CDCP
The CDCP-established fee for that service
Frequency limits
Clinical coverage requirements
Whether preauthorization is required
The dental office’s fee for the service
We will discuss known costs with you before proceeding whenever possible so you can make an informed decision about your care.
Who Qualifies for the CDCP?
Eligible Canadians of all ages can apply, but you must meet all four eligibility requirements:
No access to private dental coverage
You cannot have access to private dental insurance or coverage through employment, a pension, a family member’s plan, a professional or student organization, a health spending account that covers dental care, or a privately purchased plan.
Canadian tax returns filed
You and your spouse or common-law partner, if applicable, must have filed the required Canadian tax returns so your family income can be assessed.
Adjusted family net income below $90,000
CDCP eligibility is limited to households with an adjusted family net income under $90,000.
Canadian residency
You must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
Having dental coverage through certain federal, provincial, or territorial social programs does not automatically make you ineligible. In some situations, benefits may be coordinated between programs.
Why Choose Delta Centre Laser Cosmetic Dentistry for CDCP Care?
Understanding dental coverage can be confusing, particularly when a treatment has frequency restrictions, requires preauthorization, or is only partly covered. We aim to make that part of your visit easier to understand.
35 Years Serving Delta
We have cared for generations of patients and families throughout the Delta community.
Help Understanding Your Benefits
Our team can review available coverage information and explain known co-payments or additional costs before treatment.
Anxiety-Friendly Care
We take dental anxiety seriously and work at a pace that helps nervous patients feel more comfortable.
Laser Dentistry
For suitable procedures, our laser technology may reduce the need for traditional drilling or local anaesthetic, which can be particularly helpful for patients who are nervous about needles.
Comprehensive In-House Care
We provide preventive, restorative, periodontal, surgical, pediatric, cosmetic, and implant dentistry within our practice.
Modern Digital Technology
Our office uses Primescan intraoral scanners, in-house CEREC® milling technology, and 3D printing as part of our digital workflow.
Clear Cost Discussions
We explain recommended treatment and expected patient costs before you decide how you would like to proceed.
Our goal is not simply to provide whatever the plan happens to cover. We first determine what your mouth needs and then help you understand how your CDCP benefits may apply.
What Dental Services May Be Covered by the CDCP?
The CDCP covers a range of eligible dental services. Your individual coverage depends on the service, clinical requirements, frequency limits, and whether preauthorization is needed.
Coverage may include:
Dental Exams & X-Rays
Complete, recall, specific, and emergency examinations, along with eligible dental X-rays.
Preventive Care
Dental scaling, fluoride applications, and eligible dental sealants.
Fillings
Permanent and temporary fillings and other eligible treatment for cavities or damaged teeth
Root Canal Treatment
Eligible root canal procedures and certain related endodontic services.
Periodontal Care
Treatment for gum disease, including eligible scaling below the gumline and non-surgical periodontal care.
Crowns & Related Restorative Care
Certain crowns, cores, posts, and related procedures may be covered when CDCP requirements are met. Some of these services require preauthorization.
Dentures
Eligible complete dentures, partial dentures, repairs, relines, and other covered removable denture services.
Oral Surgery
Eligible tooth and root removal and certain other surgical procedures.
Sedation Services
Certain forms of sedation and pain management when CDCP coverage requirements are met.
Some services require approval from the CDCP before treatment begins. Approval is not automatic, even when our dentist in Delta, BC, recommends the treatment.
Not every service offered at Delta Centre Laser Cosmetic Dentistry is covered by the CDCP. For example, dental implants and ridge augmentation are excluded from CDCP coverage. Orthodontic services are also not currently available through the program.
If you have active coverage through the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) in Delta, BC, our team can help you understand which parts of your recommended care may be eligible.
How to Apply for the CDCP
Dental offices do not approve CDCP applications or determine eligibility. You apply directly through the federal application process.
The general steps are:
Confirm Your Eligibility
Make sure you meet the four CDCP eligibility requirements.
File Your Tax Return
Your previous year’s tax information is used to assess your adjusted family net income.
Submit Your Application
Complete your application through the federal CDCP application system.
Wait for Coverage Confirmation
Review your approval information and confirm when your coverage becomes active.
Book Your Dental Appointment
Once your coverage is active, contact Delta Centre Laser Cosmetic Dentistry and provide your CDCP information when scheduling.
Do not assume that approval of your application means dental care received before your coverage start date will be reimbursed. Treatment should be scheduled once your coverage is active if you intend to use CDCP benefits.
CDCP Billing, Co-Payments & Additional Costs
The CDCP pays participating oral health providers directly for eligible covered services. Patients do not submit their own claims for reimbursement.
However, having CDCP coverage does not necessarily mean there will be no out-of-pocket cost.
Your CDCP co-payment is based on your adjusted family net income:
Below $70,000
The CDCP pays 100% of eligible service costs at the CDCP-established fee. You may still have an additional amount to pay if the dental office fee is higher than the amount reimbursed by the CDCP or if a service is not covered.
$70,000 to $79,999
The CDCP pays 60% of eligible service costs at its established fee. You are responsible for a 40% co-payment, as well as any applicable additional charges.
$80,000 to $89,999
The CDCP pays 40% of eligible service costs at its established fee. You are responsible for a 60% co-payment, as well as any applicable additional charges.
The CDCP fee schedule and a dental office’s regular fees are not necessarily the same. There may also be costs associated with services the plan does not cover.
At Delta Centre Laser Cosmetic Dentistry, we believe cost discussions should be straightforward. We will explain known co-payments and additional charges before treatment whenever possible.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I qualify for the CDCP if I have access to private dental insurance but choose not to use it?
Generally, no. CDCP eligibility requires that you do not have access to private dental insurance or coverage. Choosing not to enrol in or use coverage that is available to you does not normally make you eligible for the CDCP.
Is the CDCP only available to seniors?
No. Eligible Canadians of all ages can apply for the Canadian Dental Care Plan.
Does having an income below $70,000 mean all of my dental care is free?
No. For patients in this income range, the CDCP covers 100% of eligible services at its established fees, but you may still have additional costs if our fee is higher than the amount reimbursed by the CDCP or if the service is not covered by the plan.
Do I pay the full dental bill and get reimbursed by the CDCP?
No. For covered CDCP services, eligible oral health providers submit claims to the plan for payment. You may still be responsible for a co-payment or other additional charges.
Does the CDCP cover dental implants?
No. Dental implants and ridge augmentation are excluded from CDCP coverage. We can still discuss implant treatment with you, but the cost would not be covered by the CDCP.
Are crowns covered by the CDCP?
Certain crowns and related restorative procedures may qualify for coverage when the CDCP’s clinical requirements are met. Crowns require preauthorization, which means coverage must be approved before treatment begins.
Does the CDCP cover every dental service?
No. The CDCP covers specific eligible services and applies clinical criteria, frequency limits, and preauthorization requirements to some procedures. We can review your proposed treatment and explain what is known about your coverage before you proceed.
Can Delta Centre Laser Cosmetic Dentistry help me apply for the CDCP?
Eligibility and applications are handled through the federal CDCP application process rather than through our dental office. Once your coverage is active, our team can help you understand how your benefits may apply to recommended dental care.
What if I am nervous about dental treatment?
Please tell us when you book or when you arrive. Dental anxiety is common, and we take it seriously. Our team explains treatment before beginning and works at a comfortable pace. For suitable procedures, laser dentistry may also reduce the need for traditional drilling or freezing.
